Aston Villa are looking to bolster their ranks in January with the addition of Chelsea talent Callum Hudson-Odoi, The Birmingham Mail reports.
What’s the word?
A poor start to the season has put Aston Villa in the hunt for major changes, the first of which will come during the international break as the club seek a replacement for Steve Bruce after sacking their manager last week.
Any new boss will have to wait until January to bolster the squad with new additions but it appears the club are already eyeing recruits in the New Year, with The Birmingham Mail stating Villa are expressing an interest in Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Villa Park already sees one Chelsea loanee ply their trade for the Championship promotion hopefuls in Tammy Abraham but Villa want 17-year-old Hudson-Odoi to provide further depth to their attacking ranks.
A good move?
Aston Villa may be seeking depth to bolster their attacking ranks but it is not clear where exactly Hudson-Odoi would fit into their plans, as Jonathan Kodjia has impressed this season with four goals and the aforementioned Abraham is also a candidate to lead the line.

Neither is likely to be dropped for a 17-year-old loanee seeking further opportunities to aid his development and Villa’s biggest concern should be at the back rather than in attack, as they have conceded 20 goals this season.
Only Preston have a worse defensive record than Villa in the Championship this season, while their attack is comparable to the top end of the division as their haul of 20 goals is only bettered by Sheffield United, West Brom and Leeds.
