American coach Marsch, who said earlier this year that the USMNT could have hired him, guided his Canada team into the knockout rounds of the competition and reflected on his homeland's "lack of discipline" in the crucial moments.
WHAT MARSCH SAID
"I’d like to say that I’m only focused on what we’re doing here in Canada, but obviously I’m paying attention to the US men’s national team as I always do, and like you, I’m sad," he said. "I’m disappointed with the performances, the lack of discipline. There are a lot of things that I think we’ve tried to embody about the game in the US, and we’ve always believed in this group of players."
He added: “I’m not there every day, so I don’t have my finger on the pulse of what’s going on, but it’s certainly not what we expected coming into this tournament."

While the Americans look to regroup and ensure they put in a better performance at the next World Cup, Marsch and his Canada side gear up for their Copa America quarter-final against Venezuela. The winner of the tie will meet Argentina in the next round.
